Today I wondered which NT books relied more heavily on the Septuagint vs. the Hebrew text. I found this book which interests me:

and this webpage:

Protestants should not hesitate to read / study the list contained in the site above. While I was raised thinking that Jesus did not quote the Apocrypha, I was startled several years ago when I found, not direct quotes, but allusions & themes. Patterns. One small example:
Mark 2:27 NIV
Then he said to them,
“The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.
καὶ ἔλεγεν αὐτοῖς,
τὸ σάββατον διὰ τὸν ἄνθρωπον ἐγένετο καὶ οὐχ ὁ ἄνθρωπος διὰ τὸ σάββατον·
2 Maccabees 5:19 GNBDK
But the Lord did not choose his people for the sake of his Temple;
he established his Temple for the sake of his people.
ἀλλ’ οὐ διὰ τὸν τόπον τὸ ἔθνος
ἀλλὰ διὰ τὸ ἔθνος τὸν τόπον
ὁ κύριος ἐξελέξατο
But the list in the site above gives examples I’ve yet to explore. An interesting one:
Luke 6:31 / Tobit 4:15 – The Golden Rule, absent from the Hebrew texts!
So lets look that one up:
Tobit 4:15 (GNBDK)
Never do to anyone else anything that you would not want someone to do to you. “Do not drink so much wine that you get drunk, and do not let drinking become a habit.
Luke 6:31 (GNBDK)
Do for others just what you want them to do for you.
To answer the original question, its seems the NT favors the LXX.
Of the places where the New Testament quotes the Old, the great majority is from the Septuagint version. Protestant authors Archer and Chirichigno list 340 places where the New Testament cites the Septuagint but only 33 places where it cites from the Masoretic Text rather than the Septuagint (G. Archer and G. C. Chirichigno, Old Testament Quotations in the New Testament: A Complete Survey, 25-32).
In Which Passages Does Jesus Quote the Septuagint, and Where Does the New Testament Allude to the Septuagint? –JASON EVERT
But I want to know which Gospels favor the LXX more than others. I’ve read about this, but forgotten. If I remember correctly, Luke knew his Hebrew scriptures well, but Paul was almost exclusively LXX? I’m probably wrong.
Anyone else have answers?
